My Experience at the Emergency Room

Now I'm going to start off by letting you know that this hospital is the only hospital between Philadelphia and Baltimore that is a verified Level-1 Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons.

This means they are prepared to take on the most extreme emergency cases.

Sometime ago my wife felt sick. Not to the point that we had to call an ambulance but she needed to get checked out.

I knew from experience on more than one occasion that if I went to the local hospital emergency room that the wait would be unbelievable.

So I didn't go into work and drove her north to Christiana Hospital. Now remember she didn't need an ambulance and at some hospitals the only way to get seen as soon as possible is by ambulance or if you come in with a life threatening sickness or injury.

We got to the emergency room around 9:00 AM and they took all our information. Then they put a tracking monitor around her arm! The reason they did this was to keep track of her no matter where she was in the hospital.

Now within 45 minutes or less they had called us in the back to be seen by the doctor. The doctor came on back and they started running test and mind you my wife didn't have a "bed and curtain" but they actually had her in a room.

So I have to say from the time we hit the road to the time we got to the doctor might have been 2 hours or so.

If we would have gone to the local hospital, from experience, it would have taken a lot longer.

I have always had good experiences at this hospital.

Christiana Hospital is a large scale teaching hospital with 780 beds. The hospital is the largest in Delaware.

My wife and I personally like this Hospital but you have to make your own decisions about it. ;-)

The hospital is operated by Christiana Care which has a wonderful reputation for health care.
